Have a seat in a historic building that you've helped save - for the past, and for the future.
We need additional funding to purchase the property. So, we've launched a new phase of our fundraising campaign: "Pledge a Pew for Prospect."
For generations, Prospectors and guests have gathered in the beautiful, hand-made pews of the church to celebrate their faith and life events. Now it's time for us all to reflect on how we can preserve our heritage and shape a better future for our community.
We will honor each $1,000 donation with a commemorative plaque placed on the pew of your choice. The plaque will be placed either on the aisle or the window side of the pew (see diagram below). POCA directors have already made pledges for their favourite pews.
We will collect on pledges only after a thorough inspection of the property is complete, estimates in repairs received, and we have reached an agreement with the Parish. Pledges would not be due until Fall 2016 at the earliest, and we will provide regular updates as milestones are reached.
To make a pledge, simply send us an email with your contact information (Name, Address, and Phone Number) as well as the pew number and side of the pew (window or aisle) where you would like your plaque displayed.
A $1,000 represents a big commitment for many of us. Here are some clarifications:
Q: What is the difference between a donation and a pledge?
A: A donation is an immediate gift, while a pledge is a promise to donate later.
Q: Why should I make a pledge?
A: By pledging for a pews, you are promising to contribute to the purchase price of Prospect's church and hall once we have a purchase agreement. Pledges let us know how much money we can count on while reducing risk to you -- you can show support while reducing risk as they are not due until (and unless) we enter into a contract to purchase the church and hall.
